ISC Fixe Plate Pulley: ISC Fixe pulley works great in a variety of ways

The first time I used this, I noticed that because the sides don't swivel, it's a little easier to manage getting on and off the rope. Especially when holding the ends of my eye-to-eye prusik and a carabiner, managing my setup. But it's convenience doesn't stop there. What cinched (is that a pu...

Leather Sleeve: Form and function

It's simple. It works. It's light. Granted they get a tad squishy on a rainy day. But you can always 1. reform it or 2. Stay home that day and drink copious amounts of cappucino and write gear reviews till the rain lets up. Hard to beat this old favorite.

New Tribe "Tengu": Oohh baby...aahh...

I just got this and have only used it a few times yet. But I've used enough of a varity of saddles that I can tell you you can't beat this for rec. climbing. I have a wide back work saddle that I've used for rec climbs for three years and it's ok. But it weighs 6 lbs. Two of the things that I...

Atlas Gloves: little $, BIG value

I generaly prefer to climb gloveless. I just like the feel of the rope and tree on my bare hands. But when its cold or wet out you can't beat these things. I climb year round and actually use them quite a bit. I don't have too much of an issue tying knots with these on. Occasionaly I'll get ...

New Tribe "Basic": Kids version of this is really super

Got the children's version of this harness for my daughter. I believe this review to be on topic because it looks identical. She was four at the time, I think. She only had one frustrating attempt at the technique of climbing. By her second time she was throwing the knot and making progress. N...

ART "Positioner": Best device out there!

Like all of the other ART products, the positioner is fantastic. Easy to use, one hand operation, releases under load, and much more. I have two and each has about 5 years of daily climbing on them and they are holding up great. Works with 11mm to 13mm and some steelcore fliplines. The only c...

Buckingham "Black Widow": a very light saddle

This is a very light, streamlined saddle. At times, I find it's fairly easy to forget I am even wearing in when I'm up a tree. However, there are two problems I have with it that can add to it's discomfort. When I'm in certain positions, I find that the leg straps can dig into my thighs a lit...

DMM ultra o: Lightweight, strong gate, and a perfect oval shape

Great carabiner! The I-beam construction maintains strength while shaving of a tiny bit of weight. The action on the gate is super fast and smooth. Some other locking ovals are slightly fatter at the top, but this one has the same shape at the top and bottom. I do have one tiny gripe with this...

Sherrill "Fold and Hold Deluxe" Cube: the light an the end

When I was first shown how to use the throw line, I was given a small stuff sack to stack the line. I don't even think my hand fit through the opening. Then a friend showed me her folding cube. The cost was a little bit of a deterrent, but the time saved made it well worth it. I tend to put my...

Hitch climber: Hitch climber

The Hitch climber is great. I have been using one on and off for a year or so and the more I use it the better it gets (i.e. it takes a little getting use to at first). Many different uses and configerations check out http://www.treemagineers.com/downloads/hitch_climbers_guide.pdf for details. If...
